2007 explorer shifting into overdrive concerns

Hey guys I'm new here and my wife's 07 explorer 4.0 just started acting up it seems to not wanna shift into overdrive after first start up and drive but if I turn off overdrive then back on it works just fine. The od light does not blink or check engine light not on. Just started yesterday. Any ideas??? Is there a shift solenoid I can replace or should I change fluid. It has 79,000 miles. Any help would be great

Start with a fluid change and then go from there if that doesn't take care of it.

you sure the engine/ trans aren't just cold?

I second that cold theory. My 4.0 won't go into overdrive & converter lockup first 5-8 minutes in cold weather
