2007 Ford Explorer Limite
My name is Mike and this is my 3rd Explorer I have owned. I had an '02 Eddie Bauer, an '02 Limited, and my most recent is an '07 Limited. I have always been a fan of Ford Trucks. I also owned a '89 Ranger.
I am in the process of updating my interior lights with LED's and was wondering if anyone could help with removing the front map light and the second and third row dome lights. I don't want to break the lights and have to replace them as well. I found out the hard way that the puddle lights under the mirrors don't come out the same way as my '02 did. I now have to replace the entire mirror because Ford does not sell the lighting assembly separate. I have replaced the spark plugs with the Motorcraft Platinum plugs and Accel coils. truck is running very well and the shaking and hesitation are no longer present while accelerating.
If anyone could help me out or directme to a site where I can watch a quick video, it would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.:chug:

I moved your thread to the Modified 2006 - 2010 subforum where the right folks should see it.

You need to drop the entire overhead console to access the map lights. It is pretty easy, just an 8mm screw and a clip or two if I remember correctly. With the rear lights I think I just very carefully used a small plastic pry tool to get the covers off.

middle and rear the covers pop off.... but after you drop the front you have to take it apart just a little to gain access to the bulbs... I did 2 24smd panels for the maps in the front, 1 in the rear... the middle I did a combo of 1 24 smd panel for the dome and 2 42mm 16SMD led Festoon bulbs..... its awesomely bright at night.. I also did 28smd LED Wedge Bulbs in my puddle lamps, front corners, rear corners and plate lights... the plate can be seen from space and the puddle lamps light a path all the way down the yellow brick road

these are all the bulbs and sizes I used, the panels need to be fitted but I think all the festoon bulbs are 42mm so you could just get those

Thank you Adam.
I wasn't sure if the whole assembly came out or just the plastic covering? My 02 puddle lights were just a plastic cover where my 07 is a whole assembly that comes out. I now have to replace the entire mirror on the drivers side.
