2007 Sport Trac Chrome Option

ok, theres talk about the chrome option on the explorer, how about the tracs.

I ordered a 07 trac limited with the chrome option. I read it was for, chrome step bars, chrome side mirror caps, chrome roof rails and chrome wheels.

My fear now is the chrome wheels is just the chrome 'plastic' cover over alloy rims. Question: Is it? And is it the same rim that the default 18" rim is?

I don't "know" but i would guess they would be the same as the ones on the EB (optional) or on the Limited

Although, you probaly know by know...the trac gets real chrome rims...LTD 18 inchers....and boy are they sexy. I personally wish the factory could have deleted the skull cap mirrors....bit garrish....but a chrome 1" pinstripe on the lower door body line takes my mind off it.

I am getting ready to order one also and on the chrome package the wheels are the chrome clad wheels. Yes that is the plastic wheel cover. I personally like the 18" aluminum wheels that come with the limited version.

To me it sounds like they are "Chrome Alloy Wheels", not plastic covers.

Sad to say, after the last post, I checked mine....they look so good, you would never know....but by feeling the back of them, you feel a distinct lip...they are covers

But they are still sexy as all hell.

chrome wheels

I thought I had to have the chrome wheels when I heard about them. Saw that dark dark red body paint color and was dreaming how good that would look with chrome. Found one with both about 2 hours away so had to go check it out before buying. Sad to say the chrome was plastic. Paying 30G for plastic wheel covers just doesn't cut it so I bought another one with the 18" alloys. Pays to drive 4 hours to check things out I guess. Went with the dark red and love it though. Two tone dark leather too MMMMM

They are plastic because real chrome doesn't mix well with road salt if you drive in the snow at all.
