I didn't hear/see the low fuel warning today and my 2007 Sport Trac V8 ran out of gas. I put in about 2.5 gal. of regular gas. It sputtered but wouldn't start. Thought it may be the gas was stale so I put in 3 gal. of fresh 93 octane and it sputtered, but still wouldn't start. I then added another 3 gal. of 89 octane and a bottle of dry gas. Still won't start. Any suggestions? Vapor lock? Fuel pump burned out? Help please!!!! TIA :us::salute:

Vapor lock isn't a problem on fuel injected vehicles. Probably burned the fuel pump out. How long have you been cranking it? If ran dry it will take awhile to cycle the gas in.

I would have to go with the burned out fuel pump as well.

When you turn the key to the run position without going all the way to the crank position can you hear the fuel pump hum for a few seconds??

Fuel pump. Hardest thing on them is running low. Try and keep above a quarter tank and they will last the longest. Too bad you added so much fuel. Its much easier to drop the tank empty.

Thanks, I'll give it a try before having it towed to a repair shop.

I can't hear the fuel pump when I turn the ignition switch to "on". I think I've got a dead fuel pump. Thanks for the help!
