The real estate market was booming, gas was cheap, the economy was good.
Also the Dunlop Grandtreks that were on my Mountie when I bought it two months ago were made.
Fast forward to February of this year when I bought the truck and saw the 2007 date code tires. I told myself wow first thing I need to do is get new tires. But I was lazy.
Happened to be driving the truck this week and I notice a loud thump and the car seems to be pulling.
Get out and see the front right and rear left tires both delaminating. Well I ring up Discount and drive over with the hazards on and they manage to get me in same day. Got a set of Goodyear Wrangler Trailrunner AT’s mounted and balanced for $500 out the door. Luckily nothing happened but moral of the story is don’t be lazy when it comes to tires.

Plenty of tread left!

Glad nothing bad happened!
Last summer my Sport Trac started getting a little squirrelly in the rain and on the local freeway where they had put fresh tar in the numerous cracks. I was planning to get new tires before winter anyway, but when I saw the right front was down to the steel cords in 1 long spot, I decided not to wait any longer!

Perfect set of tires to do a burnout with. I bought a semi truck that had tires on it that looked worse than that. The cords were rusty, near the bead there was a Crack all the way around the tire. The rubber was so hard I couldn't get traction at any speed, the drifting was fun.

Dodged a bullet! Glad you didn't have worse trouble! And keeping an eye on my 2019 tires. They look pristine and have at least 75% tread left. Question - How did yours look to you when you bought them? Confession: I'd never heard of tire date codes till 2 yrs ago, on this forum! Got to wonder how many other 2007 tires are out running around.
