2008 Exp LTD How to tell if TSB has been done.

Greetings,

Is there a means of looking up whether TSB 07-23-2 has been performed a particular vehicle?

When I first made the purchase (used) on my Explorer with the dealer, it was with the understanding that a few things would be corrected with it. Little stuff, center the steering wheel, balance tires, fix power steering noise. I also asked them to perform TSB 07-23-2 as I had read a lot about this issue.

When I picked the vehicle up, it appears that most of the items had been corrected. Except centering the steering wheel (they said it was the best they could do) and the bump/tip in issue with the transmission.

It's now at the point where it's really bothering me. IT hasn't gotten worse, I guess I just figured it needed a little time to adapt. I don't drive the car much, but now this car is going to become my daily driver. I am not that happy with this dealer to begin with. (When I picked up the car from the sale, I ran out of gas before I got out of the parking lot, He gave me a gas can. Among other things).

If I can find out if the TSB was performed (and that it took properly), I guess I'll have to either live with it, or figure out what else is causing it. I know from some of the threads here, the issue has resurfaced after the transmission has re-learned the driving habits. I don't think that is the case with me.

If I can find out that it wasn't done or didn't take properly, I am going to go back to them and inquire.... I don't want to pay to have this done or done again if it wasn't done properly in the first place.

So my question remains. Would OASIS or similar have this info? Or is there some other way to find out.

Thanks

What is TSB 07-23-2? If it doesn't show on the receipt you got for the work they did, can't you just call and ask them? I'm guessing that it wasn't done. TSBs aren't recalls. They don't HAVE to be done. If I'm not mistaken, there are a bazillion TSBs for my vehicle, and to my knowledge none have been done.

EDwx, Tnx for the reply.

Technically, the car was not mine when the work was done so *I* never got a receipt or work order. The car was on the lot waiting to be sold "to me". I had already signed a P&S. I had not picked it up yet. It was contingent on having the items fixed.

That said, I don't like this dealer, they are shady on many levels to say the least. I can't trust anything they tell me which is why I am looking for an outside source.

I understand they don't HAVE to do them. I am very familiar with recalls & TSBs and what the obligations of the dealers and manufacturers are regarding them.

I purchased the vehicle under certain conditions. One of which was that this TSB be performed. I don't believe based on the performance of the vehicle that it was done. There are also many people here in the forum that have had it done and had it not "take" properly.

More info on the TSB is here: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showpost.php?p=1779733&postcount=7

That TSB for poor shifting has been updated several times with new numbers. I think a Ford dealer can check against your VIN as to the work carried out on your vehicle and provide a printout. I have had that done.

The steering wheel not being centered is a big problem that shows the alignment was not carried out correctly. The steering column has a sensor for the straight ahead position that must be used in the alignment so that the roll stability control and vehicle stability control will work correctly. In all likelyhood a rollover type event or a skidding type event will not be handled correctly by these computerised systems. I have no experience with this but I would get it checked out.

Good luck.

only way to tell is if you cant or can reflash the pcm, in any case you would need the dealer tool.
