I have seen on a different forum (one for the edge) that the homelink visor just utilizes the existing wiring its really only a power and ground i believe. everything is built into the visor.

If you have the visor with light in it already it should be an easy plug in.
The Homelink module is completely self contained.

You can also consider the option of replacing the orginal setup with the moon roof controls with one that has the Homelink build in.
This is the OEM location of the Homelink on these models and it may also be available.

I replaced the overhead unit on my 2008 Mountaineer to get the Homelink. My vehicle did not have the power plug for the Homelink, but I just tapped into the overhead light wiring to power it. It works perfect.

Eiter option should work so you can choose which one you prefer.

I pulled the trigger on the visor - works like a charm.

Does anyone know if there is a homelink visor available for a 2008 Ford Explorer EB with Sunroof?

Will this work?

mibeaulieu,

This is Seni with Ford Customer Service. If you enter your VIN into the FordParts.com site, you will find Ford certified parts available for your specific Explorer. Another good site to consider would be FordAccessoriesStore.com, they are both great tools for finding items specific to your Explorer model & year. Take a look and let me know if there is anything else I can do to assist you.

why is ford customer service posting on here? are they really from ford, or are they trying to scam someone?

you would think ford would be upset with this site and try to close it down, so you can't learn how to fix your truck for free and then have to take it to the dealer and pay.

I haven't found an honest dealer yet, can you say rip off's

I noticed the "info commercial" without a useful response to OP' question.

He's certainly not scamming anyone, but he never really gives any definite advice.
