Got the wife a 2010 4.0 2WD and the driver door lock actuator died. It did the classic noisy stripped gear thing before it died completely. No big deal, buy one and install it. NOTHING.
So I wasn't sure how to check for voltage to the actuator and if it would work with the door open, but i checked with the door shut across the connector and both sides to ground and was getting mv spikes or basically no voltage. I have no idea what I did wrong because the old one was at lest making noise.
Checked fuses, found nothing blown and all the potential fuses for that circuit are tied into other things that are still working. So did the main door lock switch fail? Does anyone have a handy wiring diagram? I couldn't find anything useful on Al Gore's information super highway.
Checked through the harness, dont see any broken wires.

are you sure you had a good connection? testing across the connector will give you 12v or -12v depending on lock or unlock button and you dont need to have the door shut to test just make sure the door panel switches are hooked up. if you still have the old actuator plug the electrical connector into it and see if it moves this will rule out a bad replacement part. if nothing works then you will have to trace the wire. take note of the wire colors and start at the flex connection between the door and vehicle body there is a connector on one side of the rubber sleeve. if you dont find anything there then trace the wire into the vehicle behind the dash to the sjb (smart junction box aka the fuse box under the dash) hopefully you will find something.

If you need a wiring diagram you will have pay for it there are multiple places to do that mainly alldata.com its the cheapest solution for the diyer.

good luck

It was about a month ago, but im fairly certain I tried swapping back and the original also did nothing. Ill have to open the door back up and check for 12v across the pins again.
So the main switch sends a signal to the SJB which probably also gets a signal from the computer when you use the FOB?
