So back in March I traded in my 2005 Sport Trac toward a 2010 Explorer, 4.0. The truck has been great these last few months, up until the other day when I parked at Walmart. I parked the car, went in, shopped for 20min or so, came back out and the car would not start. It cranks easily, but will not fire up.
Unfortunately, I had to have the car towed to a dealer that was less than a quarter mile away ($75 for a 2min drive). The dealer checked it out and could not find a single problem that would cause it to not start. They have now had the car for about a week, have emptied the fuel tank, replaced the fuel and the filter, tested the pump, replaced spark plugs, and tested for fuel pressure, yet still cannot get it to start.
Have any of you guys ever experienced this issue? One detail to not is that I had the car fuel economy tuned as soon as I purchased it. Is there any chance that the tune may have somehow become corrupted or something? Aside from the tuning it is 100% stock and has a spotless maintenance history with 112k miles. Both myself and the dealer are at a loss here, and they say they are going to have to send in a request to forward to Ford to find out how to proceed - which could take another week.
Thankfully, I have a trusty 98 Ranger that is keeping my wife and I moving along while the Explorer is in the shop, but I sure do miss the Explorer. Any and all help/sympathy would be hugely appreciated.
I hate that this is only our second Explorer, and also our second Explorer to suffer some sort of (seemingly) major failure - our Sport Trac lost it's transmission at about 107k.
