2010 Ford explorer rear differential

Hello I am writing to ask if a 2006 Ford explorer rear differential would be okay to pull and put on my 2010 Ford explorer? The rear differential is going out. And I have not one clue what I am doing. So please help... Thank you

One thing you might need to consider is any differences between V8 and V6 models. At a minimum, compare the axle codes on the door panels of the donor and recipient vehicles to help ensure compatibility. I don't think there are any external differences from 2006-2010. Others here might chime in if I am wrong.

As far as ratios, I'm pretty sure V8s all came with 3.55s while V6s came with either 3.55s or 3.73s
