2011 Explorer limited
Found out when I went in on a different issue to Ford that my BCM is going bad. It still works but I was told it was failing. Only option is to get a used one pulled from another car since they discontinued the BCM for the 2011-13 explorers. Ford doesn't have any and will not put a used one in but said if I do they will try and program it. I've been told, only the 11 works in the 11, 12 in the 12 and 13 in the 13 but the replacement worked in all three and since none are made I'm trying to find and reprogram a used 11. Here's what I've been able to do so far w/FORScan. Pulled the asbuilt data, Checked it against the BCM and saved it. Put in the used BCM, coded the Keys to it. It has the keyless start so it had to be recoded to the Remote box and the BCM in that order. Up load the saved BCM and wrote it to the new one however, Every line including the 726-42on where the vin is good but 726-07-01 will not accept the as built data with an error that it's not configured for it.

Does anyone know what the BCM 726-07-01 line is? My as built should be 0300 38 and on the used box, 0101 37. Will not accept the change. Is this a box configuration that is not accepting it or a hardware one.
Any tips? I took it to Ford, they couldn't do it saying that it's vin locked and wouldn't take the upload. They seem restricted on what they can do or what they're allowed to do. Since they erased the key's and didn't reprogram it to the BCM, I sat there in the parking lot with my computer and did it so I could drive the car home on the old bcm.

That sounds miserable. Sorry I can't help. I hope you find the info you are after.

Thanks, I've tried two BCMs and were able to do more with them than For d but still they will not accept the change in line 7. The orig holds it fine. Running with the orig still in it. Have to hard reset it now and then to clear any glitches. Going to keep trying used parts. It boggles my mind that they just stopped making the bcm for 11-13 altogether.

They only have to make parts available for 10 years. :(

It was nice when Ford used to make replacement parts available for 20 years.

So I've been told. If the car craps out at that point regardless of how well it was kept up, go find your paddle for the creek.

At this point, a replacement using a used one is the only option and brings me back to what is line 7 in the bcm. 726-07-01 since my line is different and can't be changed in a used one. I've been able to reprogram the rest of it using FORScan to include re-learning the keys, then pushing them to the BCM, a step the Ford Tech didn't do and why it wouldn't start using the old box after they erased them.

Another question, I've been told that the parts for 11, 12 and 13 are not interchangeable but no one can say why since the replacement part for them all is the same. DB5Z-15604-C replaces all previous DB5Z-15604-B, BB5Z-15604-B, CB5Z-15604-A, BB5Z=15604-A. For my explorer the only two that say they work are the BB5Z-15604-A and DB5Z-15604-C. The used BB5Zs I've tried will not accept line 7 from my as built line. Leaving me scratching my head. I've used identical part numbers and build dates on the stickers of the BCMs.

Before my '93 Explorer hit ten years old I tried to buy a new drivers side seatbelt assembly. I could only get it in an off color. I asked about the 10 year law and they said "it only has to be a part that works, it doesn't have to be a part that matches". :(

Ford was having a hell of a time with MFT issues back then. It took years for it to all get straightened out. It seemed that it was due to a mismatch of components. Perhaps the BCM was involved with that.

For a BCM, if they had a part that works, that would be great.
