2012 ford explorer xlt burning smell and engine light

we have had some problems from our new/used 2012 XLT. The latest is after turning the ignation off the oder of something burning is noticable and the check engine light comes on after. Has anyone else had this problem thanks in advance for any help

For starters, you need to scan it and find what code or codes it is throwing.

Got a appointment for Monday with ford.

got the news from ford today. First i have a fuel purge canister bad that is what is giving the smell and why it is hard to start after fueling up. about 300 installed. 2nd i have a O2 on bank 2 bad making it idel bad and turning on check engine light. I'm getting the canister replaced today will update with part #'s hope this helps someone down the road

part numbers that were replaced purge valve AU5Z-9C915-B...O2 SENSOR HEGO BL3Z-9F472-A. Hopes this helps somebody else.
