has anyone done this? On my sport my child dropped a very small piece of metal down the latch hole on the center console, i can here it rolling around every time i brake or give it gas. it is driving me bonkers. I tried to stick a small tube connected to the vacuum cleaner but i can't reach it as that hole opens up to many valley's and nooks and such. I look at take that top part of the console off but it looks to all snap together. in my experience if you don't take it apart the right way it will never go back together again. any help would greatly be appreciated.

There's a post somewhere on this board about how to install the remote start kit from Ford, that shows some detailed pictures of opening up the center console. Maybe that would be helpful.

If I can find it again I'll add a link to this post.

Ahhh, here it is:

Any chance you could retrieve the metal piece with a small magnet?

A few days ago I saw an excellent instruction guide for installing the console. That should give you a good idea on how to remove it as well.
See post 17 in this thread; http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=398873 It is a PDF document.
