I have been asked to replace the drivers side B Pillar Keyless Keypad on a friend's 2013 Explorer Limited. The removal and replacement looks straightforward. My question is this: once the new keypad is installed, does it need to be programmed in any way or is it essentially a "plug & play" type of part?

Thanks in advance for your assistance. Be well.

Welcome to the Forum Bill.
This was brought up before and if I recall correctly, the code is not stored in the Securicode keypad. Therefore it should just be "plug and play".
I'll check and see if I can find that post.
I found several posts where the pad was replaced and none of them mentioned having to program it. One member though the code is stored in the Body Control Module (BCM).
