2013 Sunroof reassemble

Hey everyone,

Merry christmas!

I just got an 2013 Explorer limited where the front sunroof was taken of because it dident work.

Does anyone know or could guide me how to put it back in and attach the brackets?
- Also if anyone has an picture/video so i can reassemble it correctly !

Is kinda start raining soon so would like to have it fixed
- I have change both motors and they are working, just need to put the glass back in.

@J_C do you have the manual for this one? i dont remember if it was you or hacra who had the 2g manual. thiught it may he worth a shot! since you have 5g also

I just have the '14 workshop manual linked in my sig. There may be something in it for that, but instead of looking through it and trying to excerpt sections to attach to posts, you can just get the whole thing from the link.

Video, search youtube for 5th gen model years, search each model year if necessary.

Welcome to the Forum.
I'm not aware of anyone having done this removal before. Seems like a rather drastic move. If no one here is able to help, have you tried contacting an automotive glass company? They may have some experience with this.

Thank you so much, ive just got it diagnosed today, and ford says that its the tracks that are broken. And they want to change the whole frame for 1800 :O

Tracks on the part already out of the vehicle? Anything you could DIY fabricate to fix it?

Update, so what i was told of ford is that the tracks dosent work, right side moves back but left side is stuck so the glass dont wanna move back when activating the button

So Ford says that i need to replace the whole frame to 1800. because you cannot just change the tracks

^ I would investigate myself by examining it or at least asking more questions because merely being told that it's "stuck" brings up thoughts about silicone paste lube. Sometimes I am surprised how little it takes to fix something yet a shop would like to replace the whole assembly.

... facing an issue like that right now with my Aunt's Highlander, its control console for the HVAC on that generation is known to have a nut come loose then when you turn the dial, eventually breaks a couple solder joints to a rotary temperature dial. Once taken out of the dash (same job you'd have to do to replace it like the shop wanted to do) it takes about 5 minutes to fix with a soldering iron and might need ~4" of standard small wire, but shops want over $1K to replace the whole control panel.

Does that $1800 include labour and taxes? As shown in the links I supplied, the assembly can be bought for around $1100. Ford parts, where your dealer will order the assembly from shows $1670. Have you checked with an automotive glass supply shop as asked before to see if this is something they can do?
