2014 Explorer Rear Body Bracket Welding Issues

it is not the squeak it is the lack of a weld joint and structural integrity for driving or a crash.

I would see a body shop or mechanic in addition to an attorney.

If you have a few bad welds that can be fixed by mig welding that is one thing. If the welds are bad over a large region with numerous spot welds that is another thing.

Lots of cars have a bad spot weld or two. They are not high reliability. So car companies put many more spot welds into a vehicle than needed so if one or two is bad the car is still fine. this typically over compensates for any weld reliability concern as you have more than enough good welds. Lots of people reading this have bad spot welds on any brand of car

you unfortunately have a string or cluster of bad welds that require repair. I do not know if it is limited to that string or the scope of weld failures is larger.

You need an attorney and a knowledgeable welding person (attorney should be in agreement on this individual).

It is unlikely they can fix this although hard to say for sure without knowing all the details first hand. Let's just say I am not optimistic (at least at the level of understanding that will likely tackle these issues)

Unfortunately, I can't just lemon law the thing. I have to go through the process of them trying to fix this for three weeks, failing and doing it again for a total of 3 times, before they decide it's a lemon. I should have bought a Jeep.

I called Ford and interestingly enough, they had no record that my vehicle had any service done to it. I never received any documentation on the work that was done because the dealership said Ford would send it to me, but they don't have any record of it.

Kinda shady. This would be the second attempt at fixing the same issue which would put me closer to lemon law requirements, but if they don't have record of service, then this would officially in a court of law, be the first occurrence. LMAO. This **** is preposterous. Social media here I come.

Hmm, something sounds fishy if what you say is true(it's the internet after all).

Not to be an jerk, but shame on you for leaving without any documentation.;) Did you sign anything to approve the work the first time? I'm guessing if you did, you didn't receive a copy.

If you are in good standing with your dealership, you could stop by and ask for the paper work.

Do you have rental receipts for the time the 1st repair was completed?

Do you have access to Carfax? Maybe that has the record listed...although it typically doesn't state "weld repairs" specifically.

Hey Odrapnew,

Shame on me, yes. I thought they would do the right thing. The service manager told me that in order for the documentation to be valid, it would have to come from Ford. It made sense to me, since Ford holds the warranty not the dealer. It's ok, I have an attorney and I have contacts in the media who would love to do a story on how Ford handled this. With everything that's come out on GM and their recalls, this one will be a doozy. Specially if the defects are indeed structural and can endanger the driver.

Interestingly enough, the more research I do on Ford and vehicle defects the more can of worms I seem to be opening. Lol.

I'll keep you fine folks posted.
