I have just upgraded to a 2014 XLT Explorer and my question is I had a 2009 Explorer and was running 245-70-R16 Snows .My question is will the 16 inch wheels fit in place of the 17 inch ones. My 2009 had 17 inch wheels but I had no problem fitting 16 inch .

i don't think the 16's will fit/clear

I believe the smallest wheels that will fit are the 18" ones. I believe the brakes were increased in size midway through the 2013 model year. There is a post however where a member was able to a 17" installed on her Sport. Can't recall for sure if it was a 2013 or 2014 but I believe it was a 2014. If you have a 17" wheel laying around you can try it on the Explorer. My MKT came with 20" and I'm running the 18" steel Interceptor wheel in Winter.

Why don't you just try one and see if you have the tire/wheel combination off your old Ex. I seriously doubt they will fit.
