My right front speaker has developed a bit of a buzz at certain frequencies so it's time to replace both fronts. Without taking one apart I don't know what type they are- coax, etc. I would like to match an aftermarket speaker with the factory units correct resistance, etc. I have the 12 speaker system. I'm no expert on this at all, and one of my questions is can I replace the stock speakers with 3-ways, and is just a matter of finding new ones that have the same resistaance? Thanks in advance for any insight.

I always recommend Crutchfield for car audio.
The Sony system is a little weird in that the front component speakers (lower midrange, upper tweeter) are driven separately by the Sony amp. This makes using a crossover a bit more complicated.
Therefore, I recommend some basic Rockford Fosgate R1675-S for $75. Crutchfield includes the adapters and wiring harness for free.

Thank you Michael. I've heard good things about Crutchfield. I'll check them out.
