2015 Explorer XLT V6 Class III or Class IV - Boat towing

I'm new to this forum and am interested in adding a trailer hitch to a 2015 explorer to tow a 22' boat - total weight with trailer approx. 3700lbs. I believe this is approaching the max for a class iii hitch and cannot find if a class iv hitch can be installed on an explorer. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Welcome to the Forum.
If you don't have the factory installed tow package, with an aftermarket hitch the legal towing capacity of the Explorer is 2000 lb. regardless of the type of hitch. This has been discussed many times here. It is also shown in the towing guide and in your Owner's Manual. There's more than just a hitch that the factory package adds, including a different transmission.
