So my explorer keeps popping my compressor clutchbrelay fuse, can't remember if it's pos. 16 or 38 off the top if my head. I can replace the fuse and it will only work for about 5 minutes and then blows again. Don't want to just throw parts at it but everything I've seen says to replace the clutch and pulley. Anyone come across this problem

You will need to accurately identify the fuse by its reference designator for anyone to give accurate advice.

That said, if it's the fuse that supplies the clutch coil with power, then you've probably got either a faulty clutch coil or there's a wiring fault (chafed or pinched wire) that is intermittently allowing the conductor to short to ground.

#16 is for AC clutch relay power
#38 is for AC compressor clutch relay
Which one keeps blowing?

Why did you replace the compressor?
Did you identify that it specifically had a short to ground or was it just a guess?
Did you inspect the VT-WT wire that goes from the clutch relay socket pin 5 to the compressor clutch coil connector for any chafing or pinching that would cause it to short to ground?

Your thread was merged with this existing one on the same issue. This thread was found using the handy 'Search' feature at the top right.
Unfortunately, the thread starter hasn't bothered to reply to subsequent posts so that is of no help to anyone. Good luck.

I have the same issue with my 2016 explorer xlt. It keeps blowing fuse 16. Has anyone found a resolution?

If the fuse keeps blowing that usually means that there is either a short somewhere or the system is overloaded for some reason. A couple of possible reasons are posted in this thread above.
