- 2016 Explorer XLT
Hey all, newbie to the forums. Last November started having issues with my 2016 Explorer XLT. Took it to an automotive shop that replaced a solenoid. Check engine light went off then came back on. The mechanic was honest and told me that he was not exactly sure what the issue was, but he mentioned that the engine is SH*T and that I probably need a new one.... told me to get rid of the car while I could. Took it to the local Ford dealership on 2/15/2022 and was told that it needs a new engine (long block). It only has 57K-58K miles on it. That's pretty bad if you ask me. Anyway, FoMoCo sent one to them and I was told that "they sent the wrong one". 6 weeks later another was sent and this time I was told that the long block they sent "didn't work". I am not understanding this, as they are supposed to be brand new parts. (Finally on June 15th I was given a brand new Escape as a loaner car. I don't particularly enjoy driving the car, but it's free and it's better than nothing). I finally contacted FoMoCo myself as I felt like the dealership was taking me for a ride. Twice now I have been told that I will receive a call from a higher-up who has more details for me (this hasn't happened). All I can get out of anyone is that the part is on backorder. First it was supposed to arrive on 8/1 then on 8/15, then 9/1, and then "the end of Sept", although FoMoCo says there is no ETA. Also, I have seen in numerous places that the part has actually been discontinued. Anyone know anything? As you can imagine, I am beyond pis*ed. Friends keep telling me that I need a lawyer, but I'm not sure that I would even have a case. Just looking for some truthful information since I don't seem to be able to find it anywhere. Anyone else in a similar situation or know anything about this? TIA.
