I know there have been a couple of transmission threads, but I wanted to start a new one to discuss some issues that I am having and get some feedback.

On Sunday I was entering a 2 lane highway from a side road. As I pull out (90 degree entrance) I roll into the highway in first, then the truck shifts to second. Probably doing about 25-30 mph at this point. I floored it to get up to highway speeds, and because I bought the Sport and I like using the 3.5TT. At this point the truck seems to go into neutral, the revs shot up but there was no acceleration or downshift. I released the gas and gradually re-applied throttle and everything seemed fine.

No codes, nothing. Anyone else experience this? Has only happened 1-2 times over the last couple of months so its not something I can likely replicate for the dealer.

*Special note, I have already had the transmission rebuilt under warranty after a complete failure back in September. There was a very similar situation which caused the initial failure.

Continue to knock on wood, but I haven't experienced any major issues yet on my 16 Sport.
Lots of minor nuances, but the many times I've gone WOT (rolling or from a dead stop); the 3.5L TT did not dissappoint.

I know! That's why I am having such a issue. I bought the Sport to use the 3.5TT and I am constantly worried the transmission is going to grenade again.

Have you ever had the throttle body replaced? That seemed to be one of the 2016 issues?

It definitely sucks that you can't enjoy your brand new vehicle, but for what it's worth (when you are driving alone and have an open stretch to yourself); just give it all you got and if the tranny goes; at least you're still covered under warranty and I assume the tranny is extended as good will also?

I have not. I need to take it in for the popping noise in the front that there is a TSB for. I am going to have them look at the throttle body and transmission at that time.

haha that's pretty much been my mentality lately. They did extended the warranty after the rebuild. Luckily, the dealer has been very pleasant to work with.

You know, I had mine do that once.

Basically just after it shifted into 2nd after turning onto an on-ramp, I romped on it and it revved up and didn't go anywhere. I let off, it engaged a gear and I was off. Only happened once. I wonder if it could be replicated again. Let it shift into 2nd and then stomp it.

Yup, that's exactly it.

@Fentress24 sorry to hear it burped on you. As we've chatted about in PMs, you know I had my transmission replaced (not rebuilt) just after yours. I haven't had any problems since. Mileage is slowly getting better as well. Never experienced anything like you describe either with my original transmission or now with the replacement.

Yeah, everything was going well until it did this hesitation again. Made me wonder if anyone else was experiencing this or if its just my truck.

Glad to hear yours is still going strong, I really should have pushed for a replacement.

I have a '16 with the 3.5NA and I have similar hesitation, rough upshifts, downshifts, holding gears when it shouldn't, and a few more things intermittently (like the car not responding to throttle input normally when in the middle of an intersection, my new favorite) and multiple Ford dealers have told me nothings wrong. Having seen the threads on here I'd almost rather an actual failure so I can have something done about it.

Edit: another thing it just did on my way home that's somewhat new is when I pulled left onto a side street and let off the throttle once getting up to speed it held RPM for a few seconds and dropped not so smoothly into the next gear.

So far so good with my tranny. I had an 09 Edge and the tranny in it worked fine as well.
And, of course, I love the 3.5 TT. I really goes when I need it.
