2017 Ford Explorer // Clicking noise from upper area of tailgate

If that's the case, why would it still be happening when the ignition is off?
Does it do it if the liftgate is open as well?

I have an 18 and I noticed when I come to a stop and the sun is beating directly on the liftgate I get a ticking sound. The ticking is a few seconds apart, I think it's due to heat expansion on the glass. It doesn't happen all of the time and I don't think I have ever heard it at night.

It also does it even if the car is off
I guess if doesn't bother you enough to try to resolve it?

Yep. Only happens during the day when the sun is out. It doesn't happen at night.

So that's the video of it making noise. Upper left of the tailgate near the plastic. It only happens during the day when the sun is out. It doesn't happen at night. It's incredibly annoying. Has anyone come up with a solution for this yet?

I think that to isolate the exact area you would need something similar to a stethoscope. It seems like you created more "clicks" when you get to the 42-second mark of the video.
