2017 Ford Explorer XLT
Hopefully a simple question... I looked at a used 2017 Ford Explorer XLT that was at a dealership about 75 minutes away and only after I got home did I think about the overall height of the vehicle. My garage is under my house, and the lowest point while entering the garage is 76". I read everywhere online that the overall height of this Explorer is 70" and I assume that includes the roof rack. Does that also include the antennae on the back? The one I looked at has what I would call a "whale tail" antenna that definitely looks factory, and it definitely adds some height, but I'm just not sure if it is included in the stated 70" overall height.

Anybody on here willing to chime in and put my mind at ease that this beauty will actually fit in my garage?

Check out post 4.
Looks to be right around 77" with the whip antenna.
The shark fin should gain you a few inches, but it's going to be close.

I dont have a number for you but I do know there are different size antennas available.

Thanks, I saw that post but it really seemed to be talking about the whip antenna I would be looking to buy an Explorer that has the shark tail. Attached are pics of the one I'm looking to buy from the dealers' website. The one makes it look like it is quite a bit above the roof rack, the other view makes it look like the same height as the roof rack.
Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum.
The 2017 has what I would call a modified shark fin antenna in that it has a small 'stubby' that screws into the base. I would say that it likely is a bit higher than the side rails but not much higher, if at all, than the crossbars. If the 70" includes the crossbars, then I think you should be okay but it would be helpful if someone with a 2017 could measure the actual height of the antenna.
