I just bought a 2017 from a government auction, it was involved in an accident (broken driver's front control arm and some minor rear damage). Anyway, the battery was dead, so I had to borrow a jump box to put into neutral to get on the trailer. Got it home, and charged the battery (the battery was disconnected). Reconnected the battery, and started to clean it up and check things out. Then I noticed that the headlights were on, could not really tell because it was in the middle of the day and I wasn't really working on the front of it. The headlight switch seams to work fine, it just that the headlights won't shut off.

Any ideas on where to start?

Thanks
Mike

Welcome to the Forum Mike.
The headlights should turn OFF after 10 minutes when the Battery Saver Program kicks in. Have you verified that? If they don't shut OFF after 10 minutes, you may have found the reason why the battery was dead. Does the PIU have auto headlamps? Any front end damage?

If the switch is unplugged, they will come on. Or, damaged wiring can cause the same issue.

I am going to hook up the battery and check out the lights again.

Well, here is the deal. The lights stayed on for over 20 minutes. The lights came back on when I opened the door.
I went thru all of the menus to try and find something to lower the time on this and found nothing for lighting.
What am I missing?

This is going to be a problem if every time I open the door to work on it and the lights will stay on for over 20 minutes. They pretty much will be on all day then.
Going to lock it and see if the lights shut off sooner.

Thanks
Mike

From the 2017 Interceptor Owner's Manual;
Battery Saver If you leave the courtesy lamps, interior lamps or headlamps on, the battery saver shuts them off 10 minutes after you switch the ignition off.
Do your Demand lamps work Mike? Fuse #1 in the cabin fuse block is for Demand Lamps and Battery Saver.

Peter, I think the battery saver works, when I was pairing my phone to Sync, and trying to find any lighting settings in the menus I had the key on and after 10 minutes the battery saver turned on and the screens went dark.
Does that sound right?

I set a timer on my phone for 10 minutes and the lights were off after I used the remote to lock it up.
None of the interior lights turn when I open the door, I assume the dark mode is active.
Is there anyway to turn off the lights when opening the door?

Sound like I need to get Forscan and try switch some settings, would like to turn of dark mode and change the time on the lights, and turn of the lights when I open the door.

Thanks for your all your help guys. I am going make a separate post for my project. It came with basically all of the police gear except the radio and the light bar.

One more thing, I assume that these headlights to not have the led DRL "horse shoe" does not work or is not active.

It looks like the Battery Saver program is working. I wonder if the previous driver set a timed delay in turning the headlights OFF? That should be in the Settings under Vehicle if yours has that feature.
In regards to the interior lights, I'm guessing you meant that none of the interior lights turn ON when the doors are opened. When asking if there is a way to turn OFF the lights when opening the door. If my previous sentence is correct, are they not already OFF or are you referring to the lights?

Those "horseshoe" lights are called Signature Lights and as if I recall correctly, the PIU does not have that feature. Signature lights activation 2017 PI

Correct on the "none of the interior lights turn ON when the doors are opened" I want them to turn on.
To clarify, I do not want the headlights to turn on when the doors are opened. Doesn't make any sense to be in "cop" mode and have your lights turn on when you are trying not be seen.

I believe FORScan and/or IDS can be used to disable "Dark Car Mode".
