When I remove the key the headlights stay on. The only way to get them off is to disconnect the battery or pull fuses. Has anyone had this problem, or know what I can do?

I had the same problem on my '97 Mountaineer. I would imagine you will need to replace the light sensor for the auto lights to keep from sticking on.

I did like you & removed the fuse and just manualy turn my lights on.
It's a whole lot chaoer & easier than replacing the sensor.

here is my big fat guess reply.

does your X have an auto off on the mirror? Mine does and it freaked me out when my wife noticed before I and turned it on without telling me. She set it for max and the lights stayed on for like 10 minutes.

I know on mine I had it set at the minimum length to stay on after shutting off the ignition & they stayed on well beyond that.

Thanks Dan, I guess I'll try that and keep you posted.

Theres gotta be a short to power somewhere, I would get the multimeter and just start testing components, narrow it down and then replace whatever the bad component is.
