- 2019 Explorer Limited
Hi. I have a 2019 Explorer Limited. In June it randomly wouldn't start. Mechanic diagnosed as needing a new fuel pump. Picked it up, drove, parked for less than an hour and back to not starting. Took it back to the mechanic and they could not locate the problem. It is not popping any codes, and they had it working right before I got there. I picked it up and didn't make it out of their parking lot, because it wouldn't start again.
Then I take it to Ford and they could not replicate the problem or find any codes. It would start every single time EXCEPT after they drove it around.
So Ford gave up on it and I picked it up, I get home, turn it off, start it up again thirty minutes later, nothing. That's happened now a bunch of times. It cranks but doesn't turn over.
The only thing that is consistent is that it doesn't start after you've had it sitting in the parking lot less than an hour after you turned it off. It appears to start once it's been sitting cold for awhile. I will add that it will start immediately once you turn it off. So I'll turn it off and start it a couple times when I get somewhere and it works fine. Its only when trying again less than an hour.
Ford corporate was useless. They told me that until the problem can be replicated there's absolutely nothing they can do.
I'm just at a loss. Nobody will help and I'm unsure what recourse if aby, that I have.
