2020 Ford Explorer PIU
Has anyone figured out how to add an Aux port to the 2020 PIU (similar to the way it has been done before with previous versions of the Taurus and Explorer) by adding a 4 wire harness and port to the back of the factory harness/radio?

Thank you.

Is this the 3pin headphone socket, or USB interface?

I'm not sure how many pins are required. However, on the previous versions I've seen, it has had 4 pins. It would be the 3mm headphone jack.

That appears to be a part of the Ford Sync APIM:
44SHIELD
45AUX AUDIO IN LEFT + BLU
46AUX AUDIO IN COMMON YEL/GRN
47AUX AUDIO IN RIGHT + GRN

Even if you wired in the connectors and harness, I don't think the radio would have the option to select audio in. I do see mention of wires for can bus.
It may be possible to use Forscan to change settings...

I am very familiar with Forscan. However, I'm not sure which settings would need to be changed in order to add that feature on the screen of the radio, to change the input to Aux, etc

If you do find a setting to enable direct audio input in a nonSync APIM, let us know.
I'll hardwire a USB C cable!
