My 2021 XLT transmission occasionally will surge and slip as I come to a stop. The rpm revs above 2000 just as I am about to stop. It then takes a lot of brake pressure to stop the car as the transmission surges and slips. It happens at-random and it quite a concern as it totally surprises me when it occurs. i have seen a few similar posts in Google but not on this forum.
The comments on Google seem to point to a bad valve body.
Anyone have information?

The few posts I could find on google pointed to a bad valve body.
Any ideas?
Just take it to a dealer, the whole tranny could be bad.

Is the vehicle still under warranty? If so, I would advise taking it in to have it checked out.

I mean it would have to be under warranty because they couldn't have made a 2021 MY in 2019.

When stopped and foot on the brake while in drive has it ever lurched forward? If yes it may be the aux trans pump or it's wire harness/cable.

Yes, that it revs up just as I come to full stop.

It’s a company vehicle so I’ll probably just take it in. It’s very rare when it occurs. Thanks for the input

I have a 2021 Explorer XLT 4wd 2.3L and 28K highway miles. I bought it new during a "chip shortage" in late '21. It was literally "off the truck" and I signed the paperwork as soon as it was delivered to the dealer, without a test drive. My previous vehicle was an '18 Explorer Limited with a buttery smooth transmission.
Welcome to the '21 XLT. It's like riding a wild horse; it surges, hesitates, and hunts for gears like no other vehicle I have ever had. It seems like both driveshafts are about to come out. 10 speeds are just one too many for this thing.
The issue primarily happens under 40mph in high torque situations, in lower gears, like accelerating uphill half throttle. It's going to the dealer before the warranty expires. No issues in manual mode, shifts are rough but no hesitation.
