I received notification of this from Ford last week and have an appointment with the dealer on 6 May to fix it. The letter describes this issue as a software update rather than any mechanical component to be replaced or repaired. The notice also does not describe some of the dire results of PCM failure that the linked story does. I don't think Ford is calling this a "recall" either but rather a "Customer Satisfaction Program" (25B02) according to what they sent. Also, when I called to make the appointment the service manager said he never heard about this CSP and seemed doubtful that I needed to come in if I wasn't experiencing any issues with my 2025 Explorer ST.

I think your dealers service department is less than great. The wording in the CSP makes it very clear that the dealer is to perform the update either with Mobile service, pick the vehicle up and return or the customer can bring it in. If your vehicle falls in between the build dates I would insist that they do it, Good luck.

Brought mine into the dealer on Monday, they did the CSP update, but the recall is something different and the update for the recall is not out yet for them to complete it, so back it will have to go.

This sounds similar to the 22 Explorer recall for PCM resets while operating the vehicle.

Recall 25S35

Peter
I took my 2025 Explorer in for this recall. My transmission did not pass inspection and is scheduled to be replaced in October. I assume that the software problem damaged the transmission, although they don’t seem to think it’s an urgent issue. In the recall announcement they don’t mention the possibility of transmission replacement. I don’t like the fact that my new Explorer will be disassembled to that degree!
