Does anyone know where I can pull a high beam trigger from to run an LED light bar...?
I've tapped the high beam wire from the Body Control Module that connects to the headlamp assembly (See attached photo).
The issue is that the line is always hot, whether the high beams are on, or the low beams are on. This is also true when I test the pin on the connector from the rear of the headlight assembly.
Can anyone explain why that is, or point me in the right direction?
Thanks

I've been looking into this myself. I have a 22" Auxbeam lightbar mounted behind the grille on my 25' Explorer. I have it wired through an ignition on power source in the underhood fusebox. I would like to wire it through the highbeam circuit. I believe the circuit break for high and low beams is in the ground. This is how and why there's always constant power on both high and low beam sides. From post #10 above, I wonder about tapping the lightbar ground into one of the ground pins #8, #9, or #14..

Update,

I spoke with a company that makes wiring harnesses for auxillary power triggering of accessories such as wanting to trigger a lightbar off of high beam. They work with Ford vehicles a lot as well. They are familiar with the Explorer's and do not feel there is any way to trigger something else off of the high beams. What controls high and low beam on and off is located withing the headlight assemblies themselves and not externally where modifications one way or another could be tapped into.

They get around situations like this with super duty Ford trucks by tapping into snowplow auxillary plugs. From there they can trigger a power-on to an auxillary item(s) with high beam selection.
