All I am going to say is that a "soft parts only" A4LD rebuild is not likely to last near as long as one where certain "Hard Parts" are also replaced. There is no way a $750 rebuild is likely to be much more than a "soft" rebuild. I HATE the saying you get what you pay for - it is an invitation to a rip off... but you sure cannot get what you do NOT pay for in a rebuild. I am MORE than suspicious of a $750 rebuild. And people wonder why theA4LD rebuilds on average don't last long.

I popped off the pan and the one I got had a brand new valve body, all new clutches and bands, new solenoids and of course new soft parts. It also came with a rebuilt torque converter - complete and ready to bolt in. The only thing I had to do was to put my speed sensors into the outside of the case and I swapped out my pan becasue the one I had was drilled for a drain plug. 1 year/10,000 mile warranty.

Break points/weak points that need special attenton on a rebuild are: front/rear One way sprags, OD planetary, reverse planetary, governor, center support, OD drum, and rear case washer/reverse race (All HARD PARTS). Also, I respectfully ask: How do you know it was a new valve body? Not to sound mean, but cleaned up and from underneath they ALL look new. I hope you get good service from it, and you well may - or, depending on what they started with - you might. If that is what they did, and all of what they did, to the 206,000 mile A4LD from my Explorer, (if IT were the core) would that be enough for you ? I'll shut up. Certainly no offense meant.

ok bringing this back up.. no there are no problems.. just wondering if anyone knows of a place that sales / makes remote breathers for the tranny.. i found something that might work on summit but its 69.99, any help to prevent a reoccurance would be apprieated.
