Hey all,

New to the group, and in looking thru some of the older posts...you guys seem to have the skinny on on all things related to the Ford Ranger/Explorer platform.

Question is this:

With my 2k3 Ranger 4x4...can I simply get some different (shorter) u-bolts and remove the 2.5" spacer from between the axel & leaf-springs for a rear drop? THEN...back-off the torsion bar adjustment screw to drop the front end about 0.5"?

My goal is to give the truck a bit of a lower stance, level out the body lines...and still be able to fit a set of 20" wheels (proper offset of course) with 274/45/20 tires.

Any help/suggestions you can offer are appreciated.

well...guess I had this in the wrong spot.

Any input?

Yeah, that would lower the rear. Do your blocks have those 'wings' on them that line up with the bumpstops? You might want to lower the stops to compensate.
Another alternative is a shackle flip, but at ~4", that might be more than you want.

Good luck, and post pics when done!

the stock blocks do have the extention for the bumpstops...

should I get a shorter bumpstop? Also, is there any danger with the axle hitting the bumpstop?

rougher ride.. Thats about it.. also if its just a couple inches you are looking for you can do so by flipping your rear shackle.. That will give you roughly 2" of drop in the rear..

if you turn your torsions a tad only about .5 like you said then pulling your blocks out of the back will be all you need or else your gonna be riding around looking stupid like you got a load of cement in the back........the torsions theres nothing you can really do that will be ok to lower it with other than bags......you can only go so far and most of the time it isnt enuff, lol, without aging yourself from the harsh ride. but like i always say its your vehicle i can only lay the info out there its up to you to follow it or not.
