Got home last night to find the D/S of my rear bumper hanging down 6in. seems either the bumper or the bracket rusted and snapped while driving home, lucjily it didn't fall off and hit a car behind me! Trying to figure out if I should replace the bumper or try and find a tube bumper for it. I would like to build a bumper for it but don't have the equipment to do that. Any ideas?

Take it off, see what is wrong. If the frame rails are fine, you can do whatever you want. If the frame itself is rusted, you need to address that first.

A used bumper from A JY wont be too expensive. New is crazy expensive, as much as a custom HD bumper would cost.

that's what i was thinking I am going to take it apart tonight after work it was too late last night to work on it

Well took it apart last night and I deffinetly have to get the one frame rail fixed/ reinforced, and new bumper brackets and maybe a used bumper if I keep it stock

I would suggest a 1st gen bumper, the 2nd gen rear bumper rusts severely since the step pad is covered with plastic, the 1st gen bolts right into place and imo looks better.

I will have to check on that I didn't know the 1st gen bumper would bolt right up to it, have to see how it would look.

Here you go, my truck.

My local JY's want 150+ for a rear bumper!

I will have to call a few around here and see how much they want.

Stay on top of them on Craigslist also, ive seen them for the early 2nd gens for 20$ in mint condition.
