1991 Explorer XLT
I was recently given a 1991 Explorer XLT by a friend who had bought a new vehicle and didn't want to put the money necessary to pass inspection into the Explorer (brake job), the truck runs great but I have two problems and need some advice from someone with some experience. The truck runs cooler than any vehicle I've ever owned, it stays in the area of the gauge from the first hash mark to the N in normal, maybe this is no biggie but I know running hot is bad, is this too cool, I'm used to cars that run straight up and down on the gauge. Also nothing to do with my HVAC unit works, it won't blow hot or cold, on cooler nights after driving for a while you can feel warm air coming from the defrost but not very much, just the normal circulation air you'd feel when any car's blower is turned off, any ideas? I've checked the fuse for the unit and it looked fine. Well I'd really appreciate some answers if anyone has any, thanks.

Search you will find loads of info on these 2 common problems.

First is a stuck thermostat
2nd might be the blower motor resistor

IF the fan only runs on high, then its the resister. If it doesn't run at all it could be a bad fan motor, blown fuse or open wire.. Even a bad switch.

I'd check fuses first, then try to apply 12v to the motor directly to see if the motor runs.. If those are fine, then check the switch, If thats good, then start tracking the wire to find the break.
