If i were to go with 3" coil spring lift instead of a 4" coil spring lift will i need a radius arm drop bracket and an I-beam pivot drop bracket? What about a 2" coil lift.

No one makes a 3" coil for I-Beamed Rangers A 2" coil will need a major alignment(cams) why not get the budget beams and lift from Camburg or Fabtech or Autofab? You'll have better ride then having the beams bent to fit the coils. They use a jig to custom align the beams so that caster/camber are withing specs and your radius arms arent tweaked (no down travel) nor do you need lame drop brackets(too much wear and tear on frame points)

good luck

My friend just got an '86 Ranger 2wd, and we're planning to try throwing on an old pair of Rancho coils on it, and blocks in the back. They are my old coils, probably sagged to 2" lift, and I'm hoping to do nothing but throw on the coils and higher degreed cams. It might not work, but if it does, it's a 2" lift for about $100.
I'll let you know.
