With longer Adjusting bolts is this even possible? I've read that you "CAN" and "CANT" buy 2wd lift spindles for a 96 Xsport, so $10 at fastenal would be a cheap alternative. I know my ball joints will suffer but what the hell.:D

You can purchase lift spindles for a 95-01 2nd gen 2wd theyre like 400 bucks. http://www.shocksandsuspension.com/showitems_spindles.asp?dc=5

Here is a pic of my 2wd sport with the tbars cranked all the way with the longer bolts, and shackles and add a leaf on the back.

you can get 3" on a 2WD with the TT, but you will need to get warrior shackles and an AAL to even it out in the rear. it is possible, but just be aware that you will be altering a lot of other things by doing it.

@ Chasetheexplorer,How muchlift did you end up with after the TT, How was the ride and alignment after you did the twist? Are you running 32's? I have all the parts to do the SOA including the shacklesand want to get a game plan together.
@lono100, I read your post on the lift you did to your SPORTTRAC, Very cool. Any unforseen problems with the your TT?

Yes I am running 32's the front fenders are around 36-37 in from the ground I believe I got around 3 in maybe a little more. The ride is way stiffer which I actually like, I removed both swaybars and the stiffness of the springs make up for it and I can still corner fairly fast. The only cons to ride is without the front sway bar and all that TT theres no downtravel so the suspension bottoms out constantly offroad, just makes a clunking noise, I got used to it, also you will need new front shocks, i got the rancho rs5000 for 3 in lift and they work great the rear shocks will still work.

Nice, I have to ask. You started with a 2WD so did you change out you torsion bars with B rated " I think thats the stiffest"? I have the factory L's with the mono out back! Would there be any differance in ride quality or amount of lift with a stiffer bar? I do have a set of 4 dooor leafs ready to go in. I'm diggin' the stance of your X! maybe in the future ill get the spindles but for now I'm gonna rock the TT.I'm going to do my best to get it done by this sunday, Ill post some before and after pics. Thanks for the help!

I didnt change the front tbars just the shocks, and have a 4dr leaf pack with aal and no overload soa in back, the 4dr pack with aal makes a huge ride difference way better than the crappy monoleaf. As for the tbars I honestly like the stiff ride before the tt they were way to soft.

Thanks, chase

ive hade my TT/shackle lift with the 33"s on for a few months now, and so far everythings been holding up pretty well. ive taken it up to the mountains, off road, on trails and in the rain and snow and its been going like champ (knock on wood). with the TT lift pushing me up 3", the ride did become altered quite a bit, but it doesnt matter what kind of lift you do, the original ride engineered by ford will always be altered. i dont mind it though, it rides more like a truck to me now. ill be due for some new ball joints next year, but i think that was going to be coming up anyway. i do have the luxury now of retiring my trac from commuter duty since i got my hands on an old civic hatchback last month. if keeping the original ride and look is most important to you and you dont go off road at all, just keep it stock, but if you are planning on getting your tires dirty, take the the plnuge but just be smart, and practical with how you do the lift, and understand that it will drive differently.

good luck with whatver you do, and post pics!

Got a quick lift done yesterday! 2 hours and $100 bucks ! Not Bad.

Well cant get the pics to upload ! LAME! anyway it looks good wish you could see it!

The only drawback to the TT lift is the ride quality will eat you alive if it's a DD

I'll work on the pics when I get home tonight. And the ride quality! SHHHHIIIIIITTTT.... It rides better than ever!!! I got 3" in the back with 4door leafs and WP shackles and 3" passenger side front, 2 3/4" driver side. Had to ditch the rear swaybar and I still have donward travel in the front.Go figure. Soon to have Soft 8's. I Would like to so an SOA and Spindles! Can somebody recommend a company that makes 3" lift spindles for a 96' 2wd. THANKS!:exp:
