Is it possible to successfully remove a 2013 explorer, 3.5 engine from the top? I do not have access to a lift for a bottom removal. Any tips, tricks, advice would be immensely appreciated before I start this endeavor.

I believe it is possible but it is much more complex than removing it from the bottom. More parts have to be removed in order to take out that way. Are there any places around your area where you can rent a bay with a lift? Have tried searching for YouTube videos?

Thanks for the info. I have searched for YouTube vids, but nothing is available. Have tried to search locally for bay rental. I will look into that.

You can absolutely remove the engine from the top. It is no more complex then removing any other motor. In fact its probably easier because once you remove the front bumper cover, metal bumper and radiator support, the whole front is open.

This is probably the best video I found that goes through the process. You can remove the front metal bumper though. Its tack welded, then bolted from factory. It makes it way easier with the metal bumper off.
