The check engine light has been going on a off for the past month. I need to get it e-check and in Ohio they wont even test it it the light is on. So, I took it to Autozone and they said there were three codes. 141, 161, and 455. He said that 141 and 161 were the oxygen sensors and that 455 is the evaporative emissions system. Does anybody know what I can do to fix this myself. He said that 455 could be the gas cap. Also is there anyway I can check the 141/161 codes to make sure that it is not the sensors and something else and not the sensors going bad.

Thanks

Forgot to post that it is a 99 limited 4.0.

Jared, the 141,162 codes are O2 heater circuit related. I would check the wiring going to them first. 141 is bank 1 sensor 2, and 162 is bank 1 sensor 3. Both are on passenger side, and one of them is aft of the catalytic converter. There's also a fuse that protects the O2 heater circuits, but I'm not sure where it is, maybe in the fuse box under the hood. (It's possible that an O2 wire burned and shorted on the cat, and blew the fuse.)

As to the 455, I'd check the gas cap sealiing first, and then the purge solenoid located above the spare tire. The solenoid is in a high corrosion environment, and often fails .......
