Try transadapt

If you can't find a full kit, they can probably put you on the right trail.

Check the Conversions forum. There was a thread there a week or two ago about doing this.

Yeah isnt that the swab BislamJoe wants to do?

Hey shut up...

I'm in the planning stages of this right now. There are no kits. In fact, to my knowledge, NO ONE has ever swapped a 4.9L (300) into a Ranger/Bronco II/Explorer. You *might* be able to get away without cutting the front wall or firewall if you run an electric fan, but I wouldn't bet on it. It's a tall engine too, I'm probably going to have a custom hood made of fiberglass to clear it. I'm also lengthening the front end to clear it. I'm going to be honest, this project is going to be a real money pit, and will take a lot of blood, toil, tears, and sweat. My suspension plans include coilovers, so what I'm going to do is build the engine cage to mount the coilovers in such a manner as to allow me to mount the radiator further forward. Even with this and the serpentine belt assembly, I may not be able to run a mechanical fan. As far as trannies go, I have an auto, and I like having an auto, so I'm going for a Lentech AOD. Any tranny that will fit a SBF will fit the inline-six. Good luck on the swap if you choose to try it.

I still think you're all crazy:rolleyes: but, good luck, if it's possible, I'm sure it'll make one hell of a torquey Explorer!!! Bislam, quick question.... With a tall motor like the 300 what are you going to do about supporting the upper shock hoops? Generally every set up I've seen has a cross bar going through the engine compartment over the motor. In your case this would require even more height. Are you thinking of a full engine cage that will be linked side to side in front and behind the motor to tie the shock hoops into or what? Just curious and giving you something else to ponder if you havn't already.

That's actually it, Khris - a cage going around in front and behind the motor. I'm not sure how I'll manage to run it behind though, it may only go in front... I'm not sure how strong that would be though. It is something I've thought about.
