I have a 1996 Ranger XLT 4.0 L. , Standard 5 speed . I just cleaned the Idle Air Control Valve, let it dry and reattached. I was unable to pull off the black cap to clean under it as I wasn't sure how much force to use to pull it off, I didn't want to break it. The truck idles a lot better at a standstill, but when I start the engine it revs to 3000 rpms for about 20 seconds and then idles down. Drove it around to let it warm up and reset the computer but I still have the same problem. Any ideas? Should I clean all of the connections back to the air filter?
