Aside from being concerned about the price, I would also be concerned about the fluid they used in your transmission. Your Explorer requires Mercon V fluid.

...and the math don't add up unless you forgot to add that you have about 12% sales tax..:dunno:

..But the prices shown seem about right for them kind of places...You could have saved a couple hundred bucks if you had a place to do it yourself and used a few threads from the Forum...

I just ran a quote for a transmission tune with the software my shop uses and it came out to $205.64. A transmission tune consists of dropping the pan, installing a new filter, and topping off the fluid. That price was based on a $50 per hour labor rate, 8 quarts of Valvoline MaxLife ATF fluid, a quality filter kit, and a 5 quart oil change. Sorry, no roadside assistance included, lol.

Considering that you chose a national chain, I'm not too surprised at the price. Their prices are more in line to compete with dealership services. Find a locally owned mom and pop shop with a qualified mechanic and you'll get better service and better prices. If you have the place to do your own work, that's even better. I do my own work because I like to know exactly what was done and the exact condition of the parts that were replaced or serviced.

you guys are right! should of look for a local shop

i would of done it my self .all my tools are at my father home 300 miles way! and mom and pop shop local autoshop i need to look into it. my truck needs repair on all the upper and lower ball joints replacement.meineke want $600 dollar. they said $250 for parts and labor total $600 dollar.there goes my vacation money!!!

that doesnt sound right to me i went to my nearist jiffy lube and they tryed to make me buy the more pricey stuff and i told them that i usaly work on my truck and told them that these parts that they are trying to sell me or the fluids arnt needed. that maybe the case because my mom got ripped off every time untill i went with her.

Mine came out to 148 with flush, and filter change at my local shop. That is just for the transmission service. I do my own oil changes, and most other work.
