just a normal 331. the 302 shortblock i bought from 50resto lasted 17k miles. the main bearing let go (have not totally confirmed it yet) and will find out on thur or friday. I included a ****load of pics. It's raining out today so my progress is on hold for a day. old shortblock should be out tomorrow. Not looking to make 400 horse. Hell, I will be satisfied with about 275 - 300. I am running a Ultradyne low lift camshaft. I love the spacs on it. OH and them damn stock manifolds.. those inner welds are getting grinded on big time.. can't spring for the headers yet.. just want to get the new motor dropped in.

Nice! I bought a 347 from Coast High performance for my fox body mustang about 7 years ago and ran 10.0 at 135 mph.

i was debating on the 347 but stuck with the 331 since the one i had years ago was good to me.

interior cleaning pics.

Ordered new oil pump and timing cover gasket set... now i can get the new oil pan. Next thing on the list of items to order... CAMSHAFT and timing chain.

And NO I am not touching and disassembling the old motor.. i need to find a place to ****can it.

nothing new... cam won't be here til the 1st week of next month. As soon as i get the cam and converter then the shortblock can be installed!!

28 or 50 ounce external balance?

Is your 331 configured for the Mustang 28 oz external balance like most stroker kits? If so, what are your plans to obtain the required external balance with a trigger wheel for the fuel injection? The stock Explorer balancer with trigger wheel has 50 oz external balance.
