Heres the questions. If i would get 4.56 gears and run 33x12.5" tires what would my gasmileage be?

I get about 15 mpg - which is pretty good, but I calculated it the other day with my reprogramed speedo so it's pretty dead on.

good news thanks

I've got a chart that says at 65 mph and in a one to one ratio the rpm is 3020.

If I turn overdrive off at 65 that is closer to 4k+

In overdrive at 65 is around 2800-3000

WOW! This chart has been faily accurate before. Not doughting you, but are you sure its locked up in a one to one and the tires do measure an actual 33? Some autos don't 100% lock up. This chart and others say at 3780 rpms the rear with 33 would be 5.17 at 65

The rpm you state the chart does not go below a 28" and that is 3550. Just curious.

Honestly I have no idea what the ratio is with overdrive locked out, but I figured it would be close to 1:1 I believe overdrvie is like.68 but then again I could be thinking of the mustang though they are very close in OD.

Tires are 33" inch BFG's and measure out what they are.... I though it was high also, but that is what she reads

ok right now with 33's and 3.73 i get 10-11city 13 hwy

i have fairly decent power now(can keep up with a honda del sol)
and theres minor bolt ons to come

so would 4.10's be better? or would 4.56s be the best bet?

wow i must be the man i got 17 avg on the last three tank.. thankgodfor a light foot and soft driving i guess

4.56's suck on the highway.. my 3.55's were awesome with 33's. i cruised at 70(plus tire diameter correction) at 2500 rpm. GREAT mileage.. but it was kind of a dog around town. i'm hoping 35's will help a bit.

4.56's do seem a bit deep on the hiway, but then again why would anyone want to drive a lifted rig on 33's much over 75 anyway?

ok ok I hit 98 on the way to Idaho once, but that doesn't count I was getting bored with driving..........

vote:::: 4.10 gears or 4.56 gears

just looking for better gas mileage
get 10mpg now, lookin to get 14 or 15mpg

for 33's the best gear ratio for mileage is 4:10

i found a gear ratio calculator online, and and right now with 3.73 gears and 33" tires my real gear ratio is 3.25, with 4.10 and 33's it would be 3.60

I have 4.56s w/ 33x10.5s and get 13-16 I think. Looking back I would have left the 3.73s because I actually think its the highway that kills my mileage (too many RPMs) now and saved the $600-800. Basically 4.10s would be ideal but going from 3.73 to 4.10 isn't much of a change for the money...I'd leave the 3.73s unless you plan on going to 35s (which I planned on and why I got the 4.56s). On a side note if you leave the 3.73s baby that tranny and leave it in D around town. Thats one thing I feel good about the 4.56s is knowing its better on the tranny.

i say 4.56's and 33's makes a good combo... 4.10's will work but moving from 3.73's to 4.10's wouldn't really be worth it imho. stay where your at or go 4.56's. on highway i never go over 65-70mph anyways. that really hurts gas mielage. stay at 65-70mph tops and u should be plenty fine. take it easy on the pedal and i don't see y u couldn't get your 14-15mpg. and besides its fun to drive when geared appropiately  no sluggishness...
