Damn that was good looking. I just want to put a 302 in mine.

Anybody know if this guy is on this board? I don't think we have any members on here with a 351 in the 1st gen. Wonder if he's on here?

I think we would know about it if he was on this board...

I was looking at those pix, and I have to wonder if that truck has any cooling problems. I mean, as he stated, he had to use an electric fan, because there was no room for the shroud and belt fan/clutch. Explorer radiators are good coolers though, maybe it can do the job with electric fan. I know some people here tried using an electric fan instead of the belt driven fan and it didn't work so well.

he used to be a member of explorer underground, i dont think he has found his way back here. He hasnt updated his site forever either. He knows his stuff though, he did all the engine work himself....and to do 2 different conversions without the help of this board (or anyone else really) you gotta be pretty darn smart.

what type of 351 did he put in? if it was a 351 windsor or a modified its the same block as the 302 but the 351 cleveland is considered a big block and you would have to do some major mods to fit one of them.

I'll second that, it must have been a ***** to get that engine in there, looks like there is almost no room to work on it or anything to fit.

Did he use the windsor 351 or was it like a kit engine? I think it's the windsor block, but I could be wrong. He has to haul pretty good though becasue the windsor 351 is sick down low, a kid at my school had a fox body stang with the 351 engine and it had a lot of low end tourqe and sounded mean as hell - like a dragster comming down the road.

i think he just shows it.....if you look at the pics w/ the 351 there is no heater a/c box....and he mounted the radiator under the radiator support....so the a/c condenser isnt there....thats how it fits

you can only put the 302 in to keep your a/c and heater...cause the windsor block is the same but the 351 heads are taller and make the overall width of the motor wider

Namity - ha, you posted a minute before me, but had the same question. Yeh, I can't tell if it's a windsor 351 or the Cleveland 351, the windsor would fit but like fordcrazy said it's taller and wider than the 5.0, so you wouldn't have room to place things for everyday driving.

If it's a Cleveland 351 I want to know how he did it b/c thats a pretty big block of an engine and there would be like no room for anything but the engine under the hood.

Maybe he does just take it to shows?

I doubt it's a cleveland, because on the picture of assembly it has an efi center row port intake like most 5.0 and 5.8 and I have never heard of this being made for the cleveland or the modified.

it is a 5.0

If that's a 302 block he used, then that means its bored what, 49 over? Up until now 45 over was the most I have seen done on a 302, and 30 over on a 4.0 OHV.

the last pics are pretty obvious that its a 351 windsor....look at how wide the heads are

like i said it is a 5.0 ok just look at every thing it is very clearly a 5.0. i am 100% shure is a 302 block what it is bored out to is not my problem.

the 302 block and the 351 windsor block are the same..

I don't think a 302 and a 351 block are the same size. The 302 has a 8.2 deck height versus a 351 at 9.5. The Windsor block is approx. an inch wider and an inch taller and the haeds are the same "size".

Woops, too many ****tails and it appears I could not spell.

ok kids, here is todays lesson...

also, the 302 and the 351W share and can exchange the same heads.
