With the holes remaining, have you put a rubber grommet in them to stop water and dust entering the door? I'd imagine you'd want to do something to seal them properly, as the trim will allow water in dust in, which may lead to corrosion in the long term.

So far, I have one last hope that I know of: Pacer Moldings. They should be here tomoro. If that doesn't work, I'll try something...
