3rd gen console--what's in front of cubby?

It's odd that there's this useless space forward of the rubber-lined cubby. Is anything right behind that blank plastic (under the climate controls) to prevent using that space? I'm hoping there's at least enough room to add a power outlet.

OK nevermind. I did some deep searching and found a console removal thread (should be a sticky!) that shows the area full of ducts serving the footwells.

Bonus--the bottom of the rubber-lined cubby already has a spot for another lighter socket.
