Does anyone know if 3rd Gen factory running boards will work on a 4th gen explorer?

Doesn't look like they're completely the same but length wise they do match. You'll more than likely have to weld or drill. Probably will be easier to just to buy or salvage some from 4th gen.
Also on the fordparts site its showing the same part number (for the running board itself), but the mounting systems are different. So like before, you're probably better off finding some at a salvage yard. Or biting the bullet and ordering new.
Thanks! I checked the yard this week and only found a 3rd gen. It had some nice nerf bars but one was bent :/ I do prefer black so at least I don't have to paint now. I ordered an iboard. LOL.
I should post a pic when installed. Here is a pic from the ad.
Decent price when you consider all the time, gas, etc. Did a bunch of reviews on youtube and they look pretty solid and quality. I like the simple design and they look the best IMO. The ebay ad looks a bit cheesy with the iphone etc but not bad.
I've never heard of iBoard, i'll give them a look. Personally if I get rid of my running boards it'll be only to put on a Eddie Bauer trimmed color frame hider and some single step bars. (personally I love the look)
