I had the same predicament as you, went with OTC6488 which whilst made in Taiwan was well made. Write ups put me off buying Diamond Power kit!

Taiwan makes some pretty good stuff. I would rent yours if you were a little closer. :)

If anyone in my region has the OTC 6488 tool kit or the Diamond Power copy that they would rent or loan please let me know. I am in north Alabama. Thanks

Have you looked into borrowing the tool from one of your local auto part stores? If they have it be sure to ask about when you need to return it, as apparently O'Reilly's tool return policy can vary by store. Aurozone gives you 90 days.

I havn't checked locally but I will. However Sandy and Andy wanabe Mechanics near here tear up most of the loner tools in our town. Don't go to SA Garage if you are broke down in Meridian Alabama

I suppose if I purchase the Diamond Power tool from Amazon and I don't like it I can return it to them...

The Advance Auto here will rent it, they told me any time before 90 days was up. I've rented multiple tools there. ALSO, I'd spring for the right tool, this job is no job to do it "close enough", I'm all for saving money and rent most tools if Harbor Freight doesn't have a cheap one, but for this I'd have to go the right route.

I am wary of the Diamond Power brand copy of the OTC 6488 tool kit but in my searching for bad info/reviews I havn't found anything via GOOGLE or this site. Maybe my search terms aren't good enough. I'm hoping that it I start to use the DP brand tool kit I would be able to see if it is going good or not. I guess I'll be the "lab test rat" again !
