Hey all, I just found this forum(wished I had come across it a couple of years ago). Hadn't been able to find anyone who's played around with Sports(specifically 2wd). No offense to you 4dr guys out there, but I'm sure there's others who like me think that the mid-late '90's 2dr's are about the best looking suv on the road. So I just can't understand why no one wants to play with one(other than it doesn't have a V-8, though I really am a Ford V-8 man). Anyway, I wanted to find out how to lower mine. No one had any ideas(even Explorer Express) so I loosened up the torsion bars several turns(exact number of turns on each side). For the rear, I flipped the factory spacer blocks from the bottom of the leaf spring to the top of the spring. Drove it for a few days, remeasured and it got me almost 2in of drop front and rear. Running stock length Bilsteins, no problem. Had the camber checked, it was well within factory specs(that's what I call an inexpensive lowering job). Installed the 16" factory premium alloys(as opposed to the standard 15" cast alum.) on 255/70 Michelins(31", same size as the fac. installed 4wd Sport Firestones so the speedo wouldn't be too off). Fills up the wheel well pretty nice. Thinking about getting the 4wd Sport smooth front bumper cover, paint it and the wheel opening and rocker trim gloss black. With the wheel trim the same color as the body, it should look even lower.
